St John’s College, located on the University of Manitoba campus, is looking for a dynamic and outgoing Dean of Residence with strong people and organizational skills. St John’s College Residence provides clean and safe accommodation for one hundred full-time students during the academic year and for summer students and conference clients during May to August. The Dean of Residence is responsible for the overall supervision and operation of the residence. He or She must be able to relate well to students, and be culturally sensitive in managing International and Indigenous students. The position will commence by June 1, 2017.
1) oversees the Dons team, and with the team is responsible for the day-to-day life, security and safety of all residents. 2) provides and facilitates ongoing educational programming for the students, particularly the Dons team. 3) deals with discipline issues as they arise. 4) responsible for monitoring the physical state of the residence, and reporting maintenance issues to the Physical Plant Coordinator. 5) responsible for administration of the residence including applications, letters of offer, contracts and room assignments. 6) contributes to the life of the College through recruitment, orientation and advocacy work on behalf of residence students
