Home / Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting serves as a crucial platform for collaboration and decision-making among members of the Residence Life Professional Association. The meeting aims to review accomplishments, discuss key challenges, and set strategic goals for the upcoming year. A number of awards are presented to some of our most outstanding association members to recognize their success each year. It serves as a forum for sharing best practices, discussing policy updates, and outlining new initiatives in areas such as inclusion, wellness, and professional development.
During the Annual General Meeting there are also opportunities to get involved through the elections process for certain Board positions. The AGM is also where the Presidential transition occurs and a new President begins their term.
Participating in the Annual General Meeting is an integral part experiencing the sense of community the RLPA is known for.
Naomi McIlwraith hails from amiskwacî-wâskahikan, Plains Cree for Beaver Mountain House, also known as Edmonton. Naomi writes to honour her parents, Lavona and Mowat McIlwraith, her Grandmother Lucabelle, her other grandparents, and the rest of her family. A Métis writer with a Cree, Anishinaabe, Scottish, English, and French inheritance, Naomi gratefully uses her education to build a more peaceful world. Born and raised here, she has wandered near and far but always manages to find her way back home to Treaty Six land. A teacher, a talker, a poet, and a peacemaker, she researches, reads, writes, and speaks to build bridges and foster goodwill between peoples. The mighty kisiskâciwani-sîpiy and her many kin are always an inspiration to Naomi.
For those not interested in staying with us on campus, there is also the Campus Towers Suite Hotel extremely close to where the AGM will be hosted (easily within walking distance!)
The RLPA Board has recently adopted an Inclusion and Belonging Statement at the recommendation of the Anti-Racism and Reconciliation Working Group. Please review the statement here before proceeding with your registration.
