The RLPA recently conducted a Training Needs Assessment to assess member competencies. Some of responses indicated wanting more of a focus on the following topics: 1) local, provincial, and federal laws that apply to student housing roles
2) Leadership challenges in student housing
3) Budgeting and financial management
4) Restorative practices
5) Ethical conduct and decision-making processes
6) Procedural fairness and natural justice
7) Student development theories and their practical applications in student housing settings
8) Transitioning out of student housing and into other roles or industries, if needed
9) Equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility
10) Student staff supervision/management
